The PSD is Fogra’s response to the increasing need for process reliability in digital printing. Is there a difference to standardisation in offset printing?<\/h2>\n

The definition of digital printing alone raises problems. Virtually everything that does not correspond to conventional printing technology (offset, intaglio, etc.) is termed digital printing. The results can involve printing on an HP-Indigo, NexPress, Igen, etc., for example, but the printout can also come from an LFP print or a colour photocopier. <\/p>\n

We are therefore talking about completely different technologies (toners, liquid toners, solvent inks, etc.) and materials (an immeasurable number of paper and backing materials, films, etc.). Every manufacturer also has its own “pigment formula”. Screen definitions and dot gains – i.e. ISO 12647 – are of little help. <\/p>\n

For this reason, it was decided to create a completely new and independent family of ISO standards for digital printing: ISO 15311.
